Gouriye: "Vertrek bij Twente geeft extra prikkel"

Ninos Gouriye was afgelopen weekend één van de uitblinkers bij Heracles in de gewonnen wedstrijd bij PEC Zwolle. De behendige vleugelaanvaller was zeer belangrijk met twee doelpunten. Gouriye werd in januari overgenomen van buurman FC Twente en lijkt nu echt door te breken op het hoogste niveau. Echter had dit volgens hem al eerder kunnen gebeuren destijds bij FC Twente.

"'Als Co Adriaanse niet was vertrokken, had ik nu waarschijnlijk nog bij FC Twente gespeeld", blikt Gouriye terug in het AD. "Hij gaf me vertrouwen en beschouwde me als één van zijn spelers. Ik had sterk het gevoel dat ik onder hem bij FC Twente definitief zou gaan doorbreken." Toen de trainerswissel plaatsvond en Steve McClaren aan het roer kwam was de rol van Ninos Gouriye uitgespeeld. Gouriye was erg teleurgesteld na zijn vertrek en het geeft nog altijd die extra prikkel.

"Kort voor mijn transfer heeft niemand van FC Twente naar me omgekeken. Ook dat deed pijn, want ik had sinds mijn twaalfde alles gegeven voor de club." Volgens Gouriye is Heracles een warmere club. "De trainer geeft me vertrouwen. Nu wil ik basisspeler blijven. Mijn contract loopt af, maar de club kan de eenzijdige optie voor een extra jaar lichten. Als ik zo doorga, komt dat hopelijk wel goed."
